VIGO Co., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Polling places across Indiana are open for Hoosiers to make their voices heard. More than 1,100 voters in Vigo County have already shown up.
For now, the county has three 28-day voting locations open at Meadows Shopping Center, Haute City Center, and the Vigo County Annex.
At Meadows, dozens of voters could be found standing in line on Tuesday morning. One voter in that line had just finished her overnight shift in healthcare.
“I made sure I stayed up to come back down to vote,” said Donya Simmons.
Although the line looked long, another voter said he only waited 15 minutes and was able to take his time to get through the voting process.
“Just want to make sure you’re answering all the questions properly so you can go forward in the right direction and get it done right,” said Curt Pendergast.
The Vigo County Annex was just as busy. Poll workers could be found wiping down equipment and lines on the ground kept voters socially distanced.
A voter there said the process was easy for her because of the poll workers.
“It was great. And they’re all so friendly, and organized, and they know what they’re doing,” said Patricia Thomas.
A voter at Haute City Center said she’s grateful for the convenience of not having to wait until election day to cast her vote.
“The opportunity to not make it just one day is so important. Everybody for one day is hard to do,” said Rosie Hennessy.
All voters we spoke to Tuesday shared the same message, that everyone should get out to vote in this election.
