SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– New COVID-19 cases in Sullivan County continue to increase and now it is affecting city and county operations.
Sullivan county officials sent out several exposure alerts over the past week.
Some exposures occurred at the Sullivan County Treasurer’s Office and Sullivan City Hall.
City Hall is currently closed to the public and now employees.
Sullivan Mayor Clint Lamb said they’re doing what they can to continue with normal business.
“We continue to sweep the streets, shoot the sewers, fix infrastructure while at the same time taking these precautions. It’s difficult to do, but we’re doing the best we can,” he said.
Sullivan County Health Officials encourage the public to wear masks.
“We need people to follow those guidelines. At this point, they’re not a suggestion, they should be a requirement. We want to see everyone following them like they should be,” said Ryan Irish, Sullivan County Health Administrator.
Vigo County confirmed 185 new cases during the week of August 2-8.
Roni Elder, Vigo County Health Educator, said the public must remain remember the virus is still in the area.
“Do your best. Don’t go to big gatherings. This isn’t the time. We’re really on the rise of cases. So this is the time to really be diligent about everything. “
