TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Indiana has seen fewer crashes since the start of the new year, according to Indiana State Police.
Since January 1, there have been more than 54,000 crashes across Indiana. That’s down from the same time last year when there were more than 73,000 crashes.
However, Sgt. Matt Ames with the Putnamville Post says they have been receiving more 911 calls of people speeding, sometimes in excess of more than 100 miles per hour.
Ames says reckless driving can result in a fine of up to $1,000 or even jail time.
He reminds people to slow down, buckle up and to not drive distracted.
