TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Art Spaces Inc. has asked for local artists to provide original works of art to use as murals along the fencing for the construction of the Convention Center in Downtown Terre Haute.
With the project being clearly visible from Wabash Avenue, the 41|40 Arts and Cultural District and Art Spaces Inc. in connection with Garmong Constuction Services, have come together in an effort to beautify the construction site.
With the theme “What do you love now about Terre Haute?” and giving selected artists $200 for their appropriate and original artwork within the theme and timeline of the project.
They are asking artists 18-years-old or older who live, work or attend school in Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion or Vigo Counties. Artists are asked to submit a letter of interest and a minimum of eight works of art for review before the May 30 deadline.
Mary Kramer, Art Spaces Executive Director said she is excited for the opportunity local artists will have with this project.
“In all of those counties there are wonderful artists, so it’s really a chance to show the talent that’s here, and it will be far more interesting and lively if we have that input from artists,” she noted.
