SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Some local students drove their tractors to school Friday to culminate a week-long celebration of agriculture.
It was the Sullivan FFA’s annual Tractor Drive and members finished the school day by riding their tractors around the city’s square, while people lined the street to show their support.
The tradition dates back to the 1960s. Sullivan High School senior Jackson Page says his father took part in the event when he was in high school. Page is happy to continue the tradition.
“Not many schools do this and it’s kind of special that we’re part of a rural academy that does it,” says Page. “Farming is kind of getting away from schools and this school is still keeping it up, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
The event is held at the end of National FFA week.
