90s at 9 Beck's 'The New Pollution' Compared to The Beatles 'Tomorrow Never Knows'

Beck released “The New Pollution” as a single from the

Odelay

album in 1996. The song only charted in Iceland, but the video won Best Direction, Best Choreography and Best Art Direction at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards.

This song has been compared to The Beatles “Tomorrow Never Knows” by critics because of the sampled tape loop and repeating drum beat. The instrumentals are similar between the two songs as well. That may have helped inspire the 60’s themed music video.
