None will feel the chill like the areas homeless population. That is why Homeless Coalition co-chair Brendan Kearns has restated the need for a heating and cooling center in the area.
“Our focus is on a warming shelter for when it gets really cold. You know summer has already passed. We set up a cooling shelter this Summer and it didn’t work out very well. We recognize with those failures. We’ll work on that next year but right now, we had a meeting last Monday with some key players to get a program in motion. I hope to have something finalized in the next two weeks.”
Kearns and the Homeless Coalition recently hosted a music benefit for the area’s homeless and hope to continue to bring awareness to the community.
WTWO/WAWV will continue coverage of the heating and cooling center’s progress in the coming weeks.
