90s at 9 'Sea of Sorrow'

Alice In Chains released the song “Sea of Sorrow” in 1991 off their first full length studio album

Facelift.

It reached #27 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.

Two music videos exist for this song. Two minutes of the song is cut in both videos, the second verse and the second part of Jerry Cantrell’s guitar solo. The original video was directed by Paul Rachman, who also directed the “Man In A Box” video. The official video was directed by Martyn Atkins and it unlike the original was done in mostly black and white. Layne Staley’s hair is noticeably different in the two videos. I’m not sure what he was going for in the first video, but I’m not digging it.
