TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Business owners hoping to bring a strip club to Terre Haute hit another major hurdle Wednesday as the Terre Haute Board of Zoning Appeals denied a request for a special exception use permit.
Michael Bickers appeared before the board Wednesday asking for the special exception use permit to rezone property at 3295 N. Fruitridge Ave. to allow for an “adult-oriented” business. Bickers acknowledged that the business would be a strip club.
Several community members also attended the hearing to speak out against such a business opening in the community.
Board members cited the fact that the application was not specific enough as the reason for the denial.
Bickers will have the opportunity to reapply for the special exception use permit after a 12-month period of time, which is what his lawyers said he intends to do.
Demetrios Sanders will have more on this story tonight at 5 p.m. on WAWV and at 6 p.m. on WTWO. Continue checking back with us both on air and online for updates.
